Marvel Universe Secret Wars Dr. Doom and Absorbing Man (and Wasp!)

This was the one pack from the 4th and final wave of the Secret Wars 2 packs that I was really looking forward to.  Why?  Because we finally get Dr. Doom is awesome 3.75 inch scale!  I believe it's the first time ever he appears in this size.  Also, I can't deny that the pre-sale photos looked awesome.

Unlike most Marvel Universe figures, Dr. Doom actually comes with an accessory and also...the Wasp! She's in her shrunken form so you'll have to squint to see her in the package pic.  I think it's also a first for Wasp in this scale.

Does this mean that I'd readily chuck the Absorbing Man?  Heck no!  He comes with a ball and chain!  A ball and chain, I tell you!  Of the steel variety!  Larger than a man's head!  And he's one of the villains who actually thinks he can take down the Hulk (No one takes down the Hulk!)  He'll make for a good fight scene companion for the Jolly Green Giant, him and whatever army of Hulk villains are made for the Marvel Universe line in the future. (We want the Leader! Now now now!)

So does this 2-pack live up to much much eagerly anticipated...uh..anticipations? More after the jump!

Thor! (and Enchantress)

Thing about Thor is this: he's one of the original Avengers, he's (arguably) as strong as the Hulk, he wields arguably the most powerful weapon in the Marvel universe, and he can also control weather, especially storms and lightning.  But somehow he's always not a main player in most story lines.  He may have (had) his own comic book, but he never seems to be anyone's favourite for a leading role. Well, until the upcoming movie at least.  And even then it's so that they can make an Avengers movie after that.  Maybe that's why it's taken so long for a Marvel Universe 3.75" version of him to appear.  But appear it has and boy have we all been awaiting his arrival! (Ok, most of us.)

And here's the bonus: Since it's a Secret Wars 2-pack (Wave 3) he comes in, he's accompanied by the lovely enchantress...or so we think!

Marvel Universe Secret Wars Comic Packs Issue #8

It's Magneto and Black Suit Spiderman!

I couldn't wait to get this two-pack (right after I couldn't wait to get Hulk and Cyclops) after seeing a classic Magneto.  The black costume Spiderman was just a bonus, but a damn good one since he would be every bit as cool as the classic suit Spidey! Right? Wrong.

They have a saying about the Secret Wars 12 issue mini-series ("They" being a joke I heard somewhere I think).  Secret Wars achieved nothing except to help give Spiderman his Alien Symbiote suit and spawn Venom (and Carnage, if I'm not mistaken).  Well, they're wrong because now it's given us a whole bunch of like 12 Marvel Universe two-packs. Hahahahaha (Toy Collector covetous evil laughter)...

So is it just me who's biased against (yet another) black suit Spidey for this line? Or are black costume Spidey 3.75" toys sucking it right now? Well, we'll just have to clcik and find out, won't we? :P

Marvel Secret Wars Hulk and Cyclops!

More specifically, Comic Pack #4, which is the 1st of three two-packs in the 2nd wave.

Now, I know lots of Marvel Universe fans have been waiting for these packs to hit shelves, especially this one with Hulk in it because he has a more "regular" Hulk head sculpt compared to the individually packed Green and Grey Hulks.

But everything else is the same: same body, same arms, legs, fists, feet. So is this Secret Wars Hulk truly better than its predecessors?  Hit the link to find out!!!

Oh, wait. I almost forgot about Cyclops, everyone's favourite one-eyed super hero. He's got one power, and one power only.  Firing a powerful laser blast from his eyes. And he can't even control it.

Ok, you can hit the link now.
